"In case I make it," is the fourth studio album by American musician Will Wood, released on July 29, 2022, by Say-10 Records. [1] It is considered by some to be a significant stylistic departure from his previously releases, with a focus on orchestral arrangements and acoustic instrumentation, [2] and Wood later revealed it to have been written as "essentially a musical suicide note." [3]

Release

Prior to the album's release, Wood released the singles "Sex, Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll", [4] "You Liked This (Okay, Computer!)", [5] "Cicada Days", [6] "Tomcat Disposables", [7] "Euthanasia", and "White Noise". [8]

It was originally meant to include the tracks "Misanthrapologist" and "...And If I Did, You Deserved It.", but both were omitted. They were later included on Wood's live album, IN CASE I DIE:.

After the release of the album, Wood stated he would be taking an indefinite hiatus from creating music after finishing his tour, leaving some to speculate whether he would be quitting music permanently. [1] [9] [10]

Reception

Joshua Nelson of Bleeding Cool described the album as "a more subdued and mellow take on the stories and issues Will Wood typically tackles in his songwriting." [11] Caitlin Hsu of SwitchBitch Noise called Wood "the master of writing the most danceable songs with the most devastating lyrics" for his work on the album. [12] Behind the Curtains Media's Suzanne Torrison called the album an "installment in Will Wood's ever-changing and genre-bending discography." [1]
